Our class participated in the 9th Annual Technospud.com O.R.E.O. Project using the Oreo cookie to teach Math, Language Arts, Science, Technology, and more. Over 950 classrooms across the U.S., Canada, Japan, & Scotland participated in this project. Now that's really exciting!!! Click on the Oreo below to visit the project homepage and get detailed instructions, academic standards, activities, recipes, and much more about this project.

Our Oreo Day!!!

The children had a blast as they took turns stacking Oreo cookies as high as they could before the cookies came tumbling down. Each child estimated how many cookies they thought they could stack and then counted the cookies as they stacked them. Each student had two attempts at the task. Once all children had stacked their cookies, we took a class average and submitted it to Technospud.com.

Our class tried to see if they could stack the highest tower of cookies compared to all of the Pre-K classes that participated in the project....keep an eye out for the final results on October 13, 2007 to see if we beat the competition!!!

This was an awesome activity to help us learn the letter O, estimation, counting, graphing, and the use of the internet. Our primary technology objective was to understand that we were sharing information with other classes from different locations through the internet.

More Oreo Fun!!!

The learning (and fun!) did not stop with the counting. The students also followed a recipe to make our "Outstanding Oreo Cake." Look at the dendrites the children are building as they measure, sequence, pattern, and work together making this scrumptious snack!!!

The final activity that we did on "Oreo Day" was make a class book about how we like to eat Oreos. The students ate an Oreo and milk and then illustrated a page in our book showing how they liked to eat their cookie (twist it, lick the middle, dip it in milk, etc.)
