DAEP is designed to provide an alternative to the home campus environment for students (Grades 7 – 12) who have violated Levelland ISD and home campus Student Code of Conduct discipline policies that require placement in a DAEP. Levelland ISD provides a discipline alternative education program (DAEP) that meets students’ educational and behavioral needs as well as provide supervision and most importantly counseling. DAEP focuses on English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, History/Social Studies and electives. Classwork and assignments are provided for students by and returned to the home campus teachers.
The placement in the DAEP can extend from a minimum of 30 days (2 for 1 for first time discretionary placements who display exemplary attitude and behavior) to 180 days (mandatory placements) for repeated or more serious offenses. Placements are made by the campus principals or assistant principals. Continued code of conduct offenses and /or more serious offenses while in DAEP will result in expulsion for the remainder of the semester or extend to the end of the school year.
