LoTi in LISD

Levelland ISD is a LoTi Project District. LoTi, Levels of Teaching Innovation, was developed by Dr. Chris Moersch in the early nineties. Dr. Moersch has been a consultant for the District since May 2006. He uses a scale, the LoTi Level, from 0-6 to evaluate classroom instruction. The LoTi Level is primarily determined by the amount of H.E.A.T.; Higher order thinking, Engaged learning, Authentic assessment incorporating real world opportunities, and Technology efficiency occurring in the classroom.

LoTi Spreads
Forty-six teachers began training in May 2006 to learn how to increase the H.E.A.T. in their classrooms. These LoTi mentors are the core of a learning community within the District that is implementing the pivotal components of 21st Century learning - critical thinking, collaboration, problem-solving, and self-directed investigations. These components will enable teachers to provide differentiation of instruction to better meet the needs of each student, improve standardized test scores for all student populations and elevate technology use.

In April of 2007, every principal along with several LoTi mentors began to develop a Next Step Action Plan for each campus. These plans outline how each campus will utilize campus resources to raise the level of H.E.A.T. in all classrooms.
